 Obituario de Janice Hensley Sharp
Janice “Jan” Hensley Sharp, age 97, died December 18, 2017 at the Presbyterian Village, Summerville, SC. The daughter of James Kay and Verda M. Godsey Hensley, she was born August 1, 1920, Preble County, OH and attended Short High School in Liberty, IN graduating in 1938. She and Wilbur L Sharp were married on October 7, 1943. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Wilbur, the wonderful love of her life for 63 years, three brothers, George W. Hensley, James R. Hensley - both of Liberty, IN and Lt. Cdr. Jack K. Hensley, Richardson, TX and her sister Helen Kline, Liberty, IN. She is survived by two sons, Craig W Sharp and his wife Renee’, Provo, UT and Summerville, SC and Kent J. Sharp and his wife Maura, Acton, MA, six grandchildren, Leo R. Sharp, Summerville, SC, Cody K. Sharp, Provo, UT, Stephanie C. Sharp, Doha, Qatar, Brian H. Sharp, San Francisco, CA, Julie K. Sharp, Jamaica Plain, MA, and Kevin M. Sharp, Chicago, IL and one brother Robert L. Hensley, Laurel IN. She worked at Richard Ross Insurance in Liberty and attended insurance school in Hartford, CT after which she was invited to work at Union Insurance Company in Indianapolis, IN. She then worked as a secretary at Allison Division of General Motors, Indianapolis, IN during World War II. Later she was the first Director of Finance for the City of Eaton, OH and was Ass’t Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Directors of Citizens State Bank, New Castle, IN where she worked until she retired. After retiring she and Wilbur lived in New Port Richey, FL and Roanoke, VA before she moved to Summerville, SC. She had many hobbies, loved to travel and especially loved to play bridge. She was a member of the American Contract Bridge League, went to many tournaments and became a Life Master. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, Liberty, IN. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fodsick Chapel, Liberty with Pastor John L. Miller of the First Presbyterian Church, Liberty, officiating. Interment will follow in West Point Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday where memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Liberty and the Presbyterian Village, 201 W. 9th North Street, Summerville, SC.
