

Eddie Cakes, as he was loving referred to by family and friends, passed away March 2, 2017 at 74 years old. He was born February 6, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Chris C. Weston, Sr. and Rosa Lee (Bird) Weston. He was raised in Liberty, Missouri and was christened at the Methodist Church on N. Main at the age of 3. He went to Garrison School then to Liberty High (now Heritage). Eddie worked at Lake City in the 1960’s and as a diesel mechanic for MidAmerican Truck Lines. He also partnered with his brother Gerald, in the cab business for Yellow Cab. In his free time, Eddie enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and various places. He loved to work on vehicles but was especially fond of Lincoln Town Cars and Cadillac’s. He will be remembered by family and friends for in his infectious laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris Sr. and Rosa Lee; siblings, Chris C. Weston, Jr., James Henry Weston and Rebecca Ellen Johnson. He married Myrna (Dodd) Weston in 1963; from that union they have two surviving children, Elliott Weston of Lone Jack, Missouri and Phillip Weston of Liberty, Missouri. He is also survived by a daughter, Katrina Weston and her two children; three grandchildren, Melonie Weston and her mother, Diana, Jalen and Marissa Weston and their mother, Amy; one great-grandson, Mark Anthony; three sisters, Rosa Mae Weston Patterson, Evelyn Weston Houston all of Liberty, Missouri, Jessie Robinson of Kansas City, Missouri, one brother, Gerald William Weston and significant other, Glenda Hardy of Kansas City, Missouri as well as nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11th from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, Missouri 64068.
