Larry was born October 21, 1946, in Edina, Missouri, the son of Patrick Joseph and Anna Marie White. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Knox County High School in 1964. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served during the Vietnam War as part of the Mobile Riverine Force. After his honorable discharge, he returned home and worked for the Burlington Railroad. He then went on to Burroughs/Standard Register Company and retired after 33 years.
Larry is survived by his brothers, Michael White of Durham, North Carolina, Bill (Debbie) White of New Lenox, Illinois, and Don (Ellen) White of Columbus, Ohio; and his sisters, Patricia White of Overland Park, Kansas, and Pamela Gordon (Dan) of Liberty, Missouri. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Anna Marie White, and by his brother Jack White.
Larry was a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Missouri Tigers. He was a Life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the American Legion. He will be remembered for his dedication to family and his warm, easygoing nature.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to The Fisher House Foundation, who builds comfort homes where military and veteran families can stay free of charge while a loved one is in the hospital, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in Larry’s memory.
