Marylist Louise George, 92, lifelong resident of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away October 17, 2023. Graveside services will be 10:00am, Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay County Archives and Historical Library or a charity of your choice.
Marylist was born August 15, 1931 in Excelsior Springs, MO to Van and Ella May Dillen. She eloped with the love of her life, L.C. George, Jr., in October of 1948. Marylist graduated from Excelsior Springs High School. She and her husband L.C. were life-long partners raising a family and managing a family farm, which included livestock and crops. Marylist was a member of the Union Baptist Church. They raised two children, Nancy and L.C., and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy. Marylist was an avid reader, often reading a book every day, and she enjoyed watching sports on television.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 71 years, L.C. George, Jr.
Marylist will be missed by her children, Nancy George, and L.C. George, III (Mary); two grandchildren, Alexander George (Michelle), and Bridget George (Kyle Meier); three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ashley, and Connor George; as well as other relatives and friends.
