

Sherrill Ann Thrailkill Aubrey, 84, of Liberty, MO passed away on December 16. She was born on December 20, 1931 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Although an only child, she was raised in a close knit extended family of Roorbachs and Millers. Sherrill attended Franklin Elementary and went on to graduate from Liberty High School in 1949. She attended William Jewell College, where she was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and graduated with honors in 1953. After graduating, she worked for Mobil and the American Can Company. She married Russell Aubrey on May 20,1962 and together they had 3 children. Sherrill received her Master’s Degree in 1980 from UMKC. She taught second grade for 5 years in Polo, and third and fourth grades for 10 years at Lewis and Clark in Liberty. She was an avid world traveler, including trips to Russia in the 1950s with her aunt, Bea Johnson "The Happy Homemaker", as well as trips to Europe, Africa, and Australia. She also traveled throughout the United States including several hiking trips to Colorado. Sherrill was a life-long active member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she taught various ages, served on several committees, and spent the first Saturday of each month serving at a food kitchen. She was an active participant in the Adventures in Learning program and the Breaktime Club through the Northland Shepherd’s Center. She loved volunteering and volunteered for 25 years, over 6,300 hours, at Liberty Hospital. Sherrill had a deep love of animals, especially dogs. Sherrill was preceded in death by her parents, George and Velma Thrailkill, husband, Russell Aubrey, aunt, Olivia Roorbach and cousin, Gary Miller. She is survived by her children Kristi and Jeff Lean, Kelly and Tony Robertson, Curt and Catherine Aubrey, 11 grandchildren,1 great grandson, cousin John E. "Jack" Roorbach, and life-long friend, Betty Blair. Services will be held on December 22 at Liberty United Methodist Church, 1001 Sunset Ave., Liberty, MO with visitation at 9:00 and the service at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Liberty United Methodist Church or The Northland Shepherd’s Center, 4805 NE Antioch Rd., Kansas City, MO 64119.
