William "Bill" Franklin Rist

William “Bill” Franklin Rist, 71, of Liberty, Missouri passed away on February 21, 2024. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Church Archer Pasley Funeral Home, 119 East Franklin Street, Liberty, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be on the same day at approximately 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Park Cemetery, take Highway 24 East, then turn right onto county road 341, in Dewitt, Missouri. Bill’s family encourages all who plan to attend to wear comfortable clothes.

Bill was born on January 14, 1953 to William Edgar and Charlene Joyce (Corman) Rist in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Fort Osage High School and later earned his GED. He started his career as a mechanic right out of high school. Bill worked as a mechanic for UPS, servicing their vehicles and keeping the fleet running. He was also an active member of the UPS mechanics union. He retired in 2018, and spent his retirement enjoying life.

Bill loved riding his Harley, and would often do so with several of his family members and friends. When not riding his Harley, he enjoyed his latest toy, the Camaro. When he wasn’t out on the road, he would go boating and fishing. He hated trees and the way they always dropped leaves on his lawn, but he otherwise enjoyed the outdoors. When the weather was less than ideal, he’d stay in watching NASCAR races and Chiefs games. He was strong willed and never afraid to share his opinions. Above all else, though, he loved his family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Charlene.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jennie Rist; his brother, Jerry Rist; his children, Billy Rist and Thad Phillips; his grandchild, Buddy Rist; and his beloved dog, Bubby, among many other family, friends, and loved ones.

Bill’s family has asked that donations in his name be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org/donate.
