She was a lifelong member of Coble's Lutheran Church. She retired from Southern Railway after 44 years of faithful service. After retiring from the railroad she began keeping children at her home and went on to work with several church daycares.
Florence will lie in repose on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Coble's Lutheran Church officiated by Rev. Jennifer Shimota; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service.
She was the daughter of the late Shafter and Annie Maude Coble and was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Doc" Berry.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Lynn Coble and husband, Ray; sister, Bea Petrea; several nieces and nephews and special "grandchildren".
The family wishes to express their most heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Richland Place in Greensboro for the exceptional care and love Florence received while in their care.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coble's Lutheran Church, General Fund, 5200 Coble Church Road, Julian, NC 27283.
