

Mr. Carl Thomas Routh, 86, of Climax went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, NC.Mr. Routh was born on February 20th, 1923 in Millboro Hotel to the late Toon and Eula Routh. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was an active member and was also a member of the United Methodist Men. He worked for Bill Wilson Tile in Asheboro, Wilson-Routh Tile of Lexington and then was self employed as a meticulous tile setter for many years. He was a Navy Veteran who served in WWII.A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 13th at Gilmore Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Jolly officiating and with full military honors provided by the Randolph Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home.Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Fred Routh and two sisters, Chloe Gregson and Peggy Russell.Carl is survived by his wife of 68 years, Arleta Fields Routh; two daughters, Elizabeth Foley and husband, Paul of Pleasant Garden and Shirley Cheek and husband, Larry of Liberty; four grandchildren, Pam Lawrence and husband, Charles (Chuck) of Climax, Mitch Poe of Pleasant Garden, Amy Bradford and husband, Tony of Goldston, Cam Anderson and husband, David of Clarksville, TN; six great-grandchildren, Josh Law, Jessica and Abby Poe and Olivia, Anna and Oliver Anderson; one sister, Joyce Fagg and husband Jack of Franklinville and one brother Charles Routh and wife, Mary of Greensboro and several nieces and nephews.Memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, PO Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216 or to the donors choice.Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty has the honor of serving the Routh Family.
