He was a retired locksmith with Guilford County Schools.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Welker’s Crossroads Evangelical Methodist Church officiated by Rev. John H. Phillips, III; burial will follow in Gilmore Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He had requested that all guests attending his services wear dress casual attire.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McElroy Carter, Sr.

Henry is survived by his wife, Wendy Thorne Carter; daughter, Crystal Lee Garner (John) of Ramseur; son, Clinton Dale Carter (Jessica) of Asheboro; mother, Aileen Isley Carter of Julian; grandsons, Justin Ethan Carter and Logan Gabriel Garner; and best friend, Terry Bullin.
