Iris was the salutatorian of the 1953 Staley High School graduating class. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was a beloved cafeteria lady at Liberty School for many years. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening and working with her flowers, putting jigsaw puzzles together and fishing. She will be most remembered by her family as a loving wife and mother and being an excellent cook.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Staley, NC. She will lie in repose at Loflin Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. for family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Jerome Franklin Wright and Edith Victoria Gunter Wright Greeson and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Wright and Allen Wright.
Iris is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Wayne Bowman, son, Kenneth Wayne Bowman II; sisters, Jean Martin, Kay Bowman (Jesse) and Barbara Cuthbertson (Joe); and sisters-in-law, Nancy Wright and Yvonne Wright.
