Born on March 5, 1932 Hampton was the only child of John Roby Pike and Pearl Frazier Pike. He was raised on their family farm and this instilled in him a strong work ethic that he carried his entire life. He married the love of his life, Mabel West on July 30, 1950. They were married for 68 years before her home going in 2018. He and his wife started a dairy shortly after being married and continued the dairy until 1987 at which time they sold the dairy cows and transitioned to beef cattle. He loved farming and his golden retrievers. In the 70’s he started building houses at Holden Beach and Ocean Isle Beach and eventually moved the building business to Liberty and the surrounding counties. Later on, he had a business installing septic tanks and wells. Hampton’s only hobby was work and he taught his children the value of working hard. He and Mabel enjoyed going on many cruises and going to the beach where he would work in his garden, visit with friends and fish. His love for his family was unmatched, with a love no one could ever replace and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
On January 19, 2023 at the age of 90 he saw his need of a Savior. He told his granddaughter he needed to be saved. With his son and daughter present; his granddaughter, Jessica led him to the Lord and he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory son, Donald H. Pike and wife, Nan; daughter, Janet Pike Hill and husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Ann Pike Nixon and husband, Doug, Brad Pike and wife, Sarah, Jessica Hill Breffle and husband, Chadd; step-granddaughter, Adrienne Moody and husband, Spencer; great-grandchildren, Addison Pike and Levi Nixon; step-great-grandchildren, Ashton Hardister and wife, Cierra and Chelise Hardister; and step-great-great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Hardister.
