

Russell was a dairy farmer and was the Co-Founder of Bowman Dairy, predecessor of Homeland Creamery. He was veteran of WWII and served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of Pleasant Union United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He was also a Sunday School Teacher and sang in the church choir. He was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Liberty Masonic Lodge #714, and served on the Board of Directors for Farm Bureau and Board of Directors for Kimesville Fire Department.
A funeral service will be held Monday, November 3 at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Newell officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 2 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Pleasant Union United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
Russell was the son of the late Roy Luren and Mable Klye Roach Bowman and was also preceded in death by his wife, Laurie Tate Bowman; sister, Florence Bowman Whitely and brother, Dwight Grady Bowman.
Surviving are his daughters, Carol Snyder (Steve) of Julian and Patricia Brown (Neil) of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Tate Brown (Catherine), Amanda Schroder (Thomas), Nolan Snyder (JoAnna Perrou) and Daniel Snyder.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Union United Methodist Church, 5929 Coble Church Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
