Ruth Shoffner Curl departed this life and went to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on April 25, 2019. She was born on July 25, 1933 to the late William & Bettie Shoffner of Alamance County, N.C. where she lived the majority of her life. She graduated from Nathanael Greene High School in Guilford County, N.C. in 1952. She later married Lafoy Richard Curl and they were married for 49 years until his death in early 2008. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Fred Shoffner, stepson, Thomas Richard Curl, and her great-grandson, Kyle Edwards.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Ray & husband David of Charlotte, N.C. and her step-daughter, Sue Edwards & husband Roger of Liberty, N.C. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Shawn Edwards, Shane Edwards, Ravenna Mashburn & husband Shawn, Stephen Ray, Amy Elizabeth Ray, & Christian Ray. She also has 3 great-grandchildren; Nick Edwards, Jeffrey Edwards, & Chandler Edwards.
Ruth was a devoted wife, homemaker, and avid gardener. She loved growing all types of flowers, plants, and produce that she and her husband sold at the local farmer’s markets for decades. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and her beloved cat, Tom. She often spent time teaching others to cook and sharing recipes with friends. She was active in her church and home bible study group. She was loved by many and will be missed by all until one day we see her again with our Lord Jesus Christ in heaven.
There will be a graveside service Friday, May 3rd, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, N.C. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be given to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 4400 Alamance Church Road, Liberty, N.C. 27298.
