Bill was a beloved nurseryman, business owner, and volunteer in his community.
Bill was the son of the late Glen Gordon and Mary Lizzie Harris Gilmore and was also preceded in death by his daughters, Pamela Dawn Collins, Robin Elizabeth Bowman, and Lisa Gilmore; sister, Eudora Octavia Gilmore Hardin; and brothers, G.G. Gilmore and Tom Gilmore.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Linda Staley Gilmore; grandchildren, Jason Bowman, Chad Bowman, Jennifer Goad, Michael Goad, and Kyle Collins; and great-granddaughter, Evie Collins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at The Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation following the service. A graveside service will follow the visitation at Dr. Clyde M. Gilmore Memorial Park, 6500 Liberty Road, Julian.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Julian Volunteer Fire Department, 4317 Folger Road, Julian, NC 27283.
