William "Bill" Grover Robbins

Bill was born in Richmond County, NC, the son of the late John Clinton Robbins and Katie Lucille Shoffner Robbins. He graduated from Southern Alamance High School, Class of 1962, and then honorably served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division 1962-1965, earning the rank of Specialist. He was married to Carolyn Katherine Shafer for a wonderful 54 years.

Bill retired as a Truck Driver for Overnite with 33 years of service.

He especially loved woodworking, gardening, farming, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, previously serving as a Deacon, and taught Sunday School and Children’s Church.

Preceding him in death were sister Paulene R. Craven, brother LTC Ret. John Clinton Robbins Jr, and sister Della R. Carden.

He is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn, son William (Billy) Robbins II and wife Rebecca of Raleigh; daughter Misty Lynn Robbins-Alderman and husband Freddie of Snow Camp; grandson Cody Steed and husband Tanner of Palm City, FL; and grandson Josh Robbins of Raleigh; brother James Robbins and wife Marilyn of Snow Camp; sister Jane R. Bowland of Snow Camp; sister Jean R. Watson and husband David of Snow Camp, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home, and a visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Loflin Funeral Home 212 W Swannanoa Ave, Liberty, NC 27298. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, at 2:00 pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3572 W Greensboro Chapel Hill Rd, Liberty, NC 27298, with Rev. Andy Clapp officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
