Born on February 7, 1935, in Mooresville, North Carolina, to Rev. Glenn L. Barger and Mary Fisher Barger, Charles lived a full and accomplished life marked by dedicated service to his profession, community, country, and family. A respected pharmacist, business owner, and veteran, he served in the United States Army and owned Pompano Pharmacy for over 50 years serving his clients and community with care and integrity.

Charles graduated from UNC’s Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 1957, served in the army, and met the love of his life, Jean, in 1960. Charles and Jean were married in 1961 in Durham, NC. In 1974, Charles and Jean discovered their home away from home in Lake Toxaway, NC where they spent summers with their children and friends. Charles loved this oasis in the mountains most where he enjoyed the cool mountain air boating on Lake Toxaway, fishing, hiking, playing tennis, golf, and croquet with long time friends.
