Born in Kulpmont, Pennsylvania Joe has been a resident of South Florida since 1982. He is the loving father of Joseph D. Gard (Mira) and James "Jim" Gard (Tina). Brother of Nick Gard (Shirley), Anna Volushin and Morris Gard (Linda). He is also survived by five grandchildren, Keith, Allyson, Marissa, Erica and Mario and three great granddaughters, Vanessa, Julia and Lily.
Private services are planned at a later date in Joe's hometown of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania.
