Josephine Altagracia Fernandez, age 67, passed away on April 4, 2026. Josephine was a hard-working, adventurous, loving woman whose presence left a lasting imprint on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She resided in many places but her final moments were with her children in Florida.

Born on November 18, 1958, Josephine was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and moved to New York at the age of 8. With courage and determination, she learned a new language and built a new life, later earning an associate’s degree in business—an early reflection of the drive and ambition that would define her life.

Josephine had a career in real estate and continued working as she expanded her portfolio. Her work ethic was unwavering, and she was never afraid to learn something new. In retirement, she spent her time with her children and grandchildren, embracing the moments that mattered most.

Josephine was married for 40 years and was the proud mother of four children and grandmother of four grandchildren, whom she visited and cared for with devotion. She believed there’s nothing more important than family.

Adventurous at heart, Josephine loved shopping and traveling. Her homes were always full of plants, a reflection of her nurturing spirit and the life she cultivated wherever she went. She loved capturing memories and everyday beauty with the same attentiveness she brought to the people she loved.

Josephine’s legacy is one of perseverance, love, and strength. She instilled in her children the conviction to never take no for an answer. Her favorite phrases—“Silence is Golden” and “It’s just Money”—spoke to her steady perspective and the values she carried with quiet confidence. She spoke with such adoration for those she loved, and that love will remain a guiding presence for her family.

She will be dearly missed. She was one of a kind, and there will never be another like her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 4650 N Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064, on April 9, 2026, from 5:00-8:00pm.

Josefina fue una mujer trabajadora, aventurera y amorosa, cuya presencia dejó una huella imborrable en todos aquellos que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Vivió en muchos lugares, pero sus últimos momentos los pasó junto a sus hijos en Florida.

Nacida el 18 de noviembre de 1958, Josefina nació y creció en la República Dominicana y se mudó a Nueva York a la edad de 8 años. Con valentía y determinación, aprendió un nuevo idioma y construyó una nueva vida. Más adelante, obtuvo un título asociado en negocios, un reflejo temprano del esfuerzo y la ambición que definirían su vida.

Josefina desarrolló una carrera en bienes raíces y continuó trabajando mientras expandía su portafolio. Su ética de trabajo fue inquebrantable y nunca tuvo miedo de aprender algo nuevo. Durante su jubilación, dedicó su tiempo a sus hijos y nietos, valorando y disfrutando los momentos que realmente importaban.

Josefina estuvo casada durante 40 años y fue la orgullosa madre de cuatro hijos y abuela de cuatro nietos, a quienes visitaba y cuidaba con gran dedicación. Ella creía firmemente que no hay nada más importante que la familia.

Le gustaba capturar recuerdos y la belleza de lo cotidiano con la misma atención y amor que brindaba a las personas que tanto quería.

El legado de Josefina es uno de perseverancia, amor y fortaleza. Les inculcó a sus hijos la convicción de nunca aceptar un “no” como respuesta. Sus frases favoritas—“El silencio es oro” y “Es solo dinero”—reflejaban su perspectiva serena y los valores que llevaba con confianza y humildad. Siempre hablaba con profunda admiración de sus seres queridos, y ese amor seguirá siendo una guía para su familia.

Será profundamente extrañada. Fue única en su clase, y nunca habrá otra como ella.
