

Madge is the beloved wife of the late Harry Marten and the loving mother of Mary Robertson (Bill), Joe Marten (Mary), Ceil Dorger (Ken), Jim Marten (Jean) and Les Gordon, father of granddaughters Katie Gordon (Keith), Annie Gordon and Linda Gordon. Her other grandchildren are: Mark Marten (Kayleigh), Theresa Marten, Michelle Marten, Jennifer Marten, Madeline Hemmerle (John), Ben Dorger, Lissa Marten, and Carly Marten. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Lyla, Graham and Cora and by many wonderful friends and co-workers.
Madge, part of the Greatest Generation, had four careers. When she was a young adult, she worked in Chicago in advertising.
After marrying Harry, she had four children in five years and was a wonderful homemaker for many years.
Madge was an excellent cook and her Key Lime Pie is internationally famous.
In 1973 she returned to the workforce starting as a typist at Deltona Corp. (the original developers of Marco Island)
She left Deltona after 20 years, as the Vice President of Advertising.
Her "retirement" didn't last long.
Madge began working at H & R Block and was very proud of the fact that for 25-plus years she was able to hold the "Master Tax Advisor" position with Block.
Madge collected her last paycheck in April, 2017.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday December 1, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 4650 N. Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064 where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday December 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2700 NE 36th St, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064. Private burial services are planned.
