Orly Octavio Cruz, a beloved, generous, and hard-working individual, passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 1, 1936, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, Orly was the cherished son of Octavio Cruz and Maria F. Alvear, both of whom predeceased him.
Orly's early life in Guayaquil laid the foundation for his future endeavors. He pursued a career as a Custodial Engineer in New York, where his dedication and work ethic were highly regarded.
On September 16, 1972, Orly married Juana Cedeno in Brooklyn, New York. He is survived by his devoted spouse, Juana Cruz, along with his seven children and nine grandchildren. Orly also leaves behind one sibling, while two of his siblings predeceased him.
A resident of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Orly had a deep love for America, New York City and The NY Mets, which was evident in his personal interests and hobbies.
Visitation will be held at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 4650 N Federal Highway, Lighthouse Point, FL 33064, on December 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In accordance with his wishes, a cremation will follow the service.
