Raymond Joseph George Lavoie, affectionately known as Ray, passed away peacefully on the evening of September 21, 2024. Born on December 15, 1949, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Raymond and Georgette Lavoie, Ray grew up in the Fall River and Taunton areas with his three sisters and two brothers. In 1967, he moved to Boynton Beach, Florida, with his guardian, Louis Bouchard.
Ray served honorably as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army Reserves, working as a recruiter. His professional life was diverse, including roles such as TV repairman, campground manager, and construction building. For the final 20+ years of his career, he excelled in the propane and natural gas industry.
In 1972, Ray met the love of his life, Rosemarie Kahn, in Boynton Beach. They married in 1977 and shared a beautiful life together. Ray adored his wife and children, and he had a special joy and love for his two grandchildren. Known for his ability to make people laugh and smile, Ray was a big teddy bear who gave the best hugs and made everyone feel warm and loved. With a knack for creating affectionate nicknames, Ray had a way of making everyone feel like they held a special place in his heart.
Ray’s favorite place to visit was Disney World, where he spent his honeymoon and many vacations with his children and grandchildren. Later in life, he became a proud Master Mason and took up guitar playing, continually improving his skills. One of his mottos was “never give up, never surrender,” and he lived by these words, fighting hard until the end.
Ray’s memory will be eternally cherished by his wife, Rosemarie, his daughter, Renee, and his grandchildren, Kailah and Lucas. He fought bravely but will now reunite with his son, Raymond Lavoie Jr., and many other beloved family members.
