A first- generation American from Pristopim Czech republic born in Berwyn, Illinois in 1927. Robert referred to as Bob by his Family and Friends, graduated from Redlands University in California going on to Northwestern University in Chicago.
Bob opened Pristo Appliances in 1950. The store's success dictated a need to develop satellite locations, and with that need, the concept of Preston Real Estate Corporation was born. A proud member of the National Association of Realtors in Chicago from 1954, Bob used his license to broker, develop and/or redevelop over 1500 multi units and over 30 commercial projects in suburban Chicago before transferring Preston Corporation to Broward County in 1986. With the assistance of his 4 daughters, Bob continued to transform the landscape of Broward County through numerous real estate projects until his retirement in 2011. Enlisting twice between 1945-1950, Bob honorably served our country in the US Naval Air Corp and achieved the rank of a Noble as a lifetime Masonic Shriner for his membership spanning from 1951-2016.As a philanthropist, Bob set up numerous educational scholarships in Florida, Virginia, Illinois and North Carolina.
A loving, caring, and compassionate man, Bob fought his way out of the hopelessness of depression-era poverty and inspired all to reach for the stars. His motto: "What I will, I can." Bob travelled the world extensively to gain perspective and an understanding of life's meaning, beginning each day with the words "Today is another day of opportunity, make the most of it". Bobs legacy of love for wife and family, passion for life, and caring for others will continue to guide, inspire and comfort us as we move forward.
