Nellie Betty "Betty" Dawson Orpurt

.Nellie “Betty” Elizabeth Orpurt, 90 of Lima passed away 12:05p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at the Lost Creek Care Center. She was born March 15, 1921 in Peru, Indiana to Gale and Mary (Pahl) Dawson and they preceded her in death. She was married to William C. Orpurt, Jr for over 72 years and he passed away on December 1, 2010.

Betty is survived by her children: Mary (Richard) Painter, Lenny Orpurt, Robert (Bev) Orpurt, Phil (Doris) Orpurt all of Lima and Elizabeth (Ross) Hunt of Wapakoneta, Ohio a daughter-in-law: Shirley Orpurt of Southingtom, OH. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren and a sister: Frances Leis of Peru, IN.

Mrs. Orpurt was a homemaker, she and her late husband were houseparents for over 18 years for ARC of Allen County. They also were instrumental in founding the Cerebral Palsy Clinic here in Lima in the 1950’s.

Mrs. Orpurt is also preceded in death by a son: Dennis Orpurt and her daughters: Rebecca Belle and Frances Kaye.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Terry Anderson officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
