
Ralph Leroy May, 88 of Lima went home to be with his heavenly Father at 1:07 a.m. Friday morning, July 22, 2016 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lima on Thursday, July 19, 1928 to Clarence and Mary Josephine (Thompson) May and they preceded him in death. On February 13, 1988, in Lima, he married Margie Caudill with Rev. Douglas Adams presiding. Margie survives him.
Ralph worked as a truck driver for Pangles, he then worked for Scot Lad Foods as a material handler, following his retirement he went to work for Colonial Golf Course. He loved to play golf and did until he could not see well enough to play anymore. He was on the Bath Fire Department for many years and had many friends there. He was a life member of the Ark of the Covenant Baptist Church. He truly loved God and he loved his church. He also loved his faithful furry companion, Lady Grace, who preceded him in death. He had been a life member of the Lima SABRES Shooting Association, a member of the National Rifle Association, and he enjoyed fishing. He was the adopted grandfather to all the neighborhood kids.
Ralph is survived by his lovely daughters, Nancy Oatman of Cairo, Paula (Tim) King of Sidney, Barb (Tony) Gerstner of Madison, Wisconsin and Tamra (Paul) Clevenger of Wapakoneta. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Travis Oatman, Charles Oatman, III, Amanda Williams, Emily King, Olivia King, Josh Gerstner, Jody Gerstner, six great grandchildren, Robin White, Chassidy Oatman, Claire Jo Oatman, Devan Gerstner, Faith Renae Williams, Alexis Dream Williams, and a brother, Clarence May, Jr. of Lima.
Along with his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Oatman and his siblings, Robert May and JoAnn Clark, a brother-in-law Dave Clark and sisters-in-law, Viola May and Eloise May.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 25, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Wright, officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and 12 Noon until the time of the services on Monday at SIFERD-ORIANS FUNERAL HOME.
