

Richard Paul “Dick” Ribley, 91 of Lima passed away 10:50 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 22, 2014 at Shawnee Manor Nursing Home. He was born on October 2, 1923 in Lima to John L. & E. Marie (Wade) Ribley and they preceded him in death. On June 30, 1969 he married the love of his life, Mary Ellen Cook and she survives him.
Mr. Ribley was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church for over 37 years. He had been a Machinist for the Nickle Plate Railroad and then was employed as an Inspector for Ex-Cell-O where he retired from in 1985 after 35 years of service. He was a graduate of Lima St. John’s High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran who served with General Patton at the end of the war. Dick was member of the FOE # 370, and a member of the American Legion Post 96. He loved bowling and golfing. Richard was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds, and OSU football, but most importantly he was devoted to and adored his lovely wife.
His survivors include, a sister, Betty Russell of St. Petersburg, Florida, his sisters-in-law, Bettye (Bernard-dec’d) Brewer of Arizona, Ruth Jaynes of Wapakoneta, Carol Sneary of California and a brother-in-law, Robert (Shirley) Cook of Lima. He also is survived by special nieces, Laura Miller of Wapakoneta, Debbie (Greg) Perea of California, Pam Shepard, and Raela Jean (William) Reed both of Lima; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his siblings, Florence (Robert) Miller, Virginia (Ace) Grant, John (Esther) Ribley and Ralph (Betty) Ribley.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. John Catholic Church with Father David Ross as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Gethsemani Cemetery. The VFW Post 1275 will perform military graveside rites.
