Bob grew up in Menlo Park, was active in Menlo Park Presbyterian Church youth group and graduated from Sequoia High School in 1948. His love of horses and riding began in his teenage years when he and his brother would ride the rural hills of Palo Alto. Bob was a proud member of the US Naval Construction Battalion, “Seabees”, from 1950 to 1954 and served in Cuba and North Africa during that time. Bob and Barbara Ann Lindquist were married in 1954 and had four children. He graduated from San Mateo College in 1958 and worked his entire career for industrial construction companies in the Bay Area. Bob’s dedication to his family was his full-time commitment. As a member of the Masonic Lodge, Palo Alto #346, Bob served as an advisor and on the Board for the Palo Alto DeMolay in which his 3 sons were all members. Whatever involvement his children chose, he was there to support.
Bob is survived by Sharon Henderson, his wife of 24 years and four children: Nancy Stromswold (David) of Tahoma, CA; John “Jack”(Terry) Henderson of Oregon City, OR; Robert Clay (Joni) Henderson of Kaysville, UT and Kenneth (Cindy) Henderson of Kennewick, WA. He’s the proud Grandpa of 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Ann “Babs” Henderson, his parents John and Bessie Henderson and brothers Arthur and Charles Henderson.
At Bob’s request, no public services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please contribute in his memory to an organization of your choice or the Fieldhaven Feline Rescue http://www.fieldhaven.com/how_to_help.htm
