He is also survived by his mother Ruth Riddle, sister Marcia Schoger, ’German daughter’ Chrissy Zilkens (Martin Zilkens), extended family, and many friends who became bonus family along the way.
Thomas was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving in the 70’s. After his service, he worked for a short time in real estate, then began his 30+ year career with PG&E, working as a gas serviceman and engineer. During his years with the company, he assisted in several disaster relief trips, restoring utilities to cities after earthquakes.
He believed strongly in serving others, and did so through many positions at his churches, coaching youth sports, and serving for years as a volunteer firefighter. He also loved to use his skills and knowledge of construction to assist family and friends (and complete strangers) with home repairs and remodeling projects at no cost to them.
Thomas deeply loved God, his family, and his country. He enjoyed camping and hunting/ fishing, all things aviation, roses (especially a deep red Mr. Lincoln), good food, and cheering his grandkids on with any and all of their chosen activities.
All are welcome to join us in celebrating his life at a graveside funeral service being held on Monday, 3/21/22, at 11:00am, at Manzanita Cemetery. A memorial lunch will be served following the service.
(To assist us in planning, RSVPs via text or voicemail to 916-295-2655 would be very much appreciated. )
