Bill was 63 years old. He was surrounded by his family. Bill fought the good fight until the very end not ever giving up, and this was a testament to the kind of character Bill had throughout his life. Born on October 6, 1961, in West Sacramento, Bill lived a life full of devotion—to his family, his faith, and the game of baseball.
From a young age, Bill’s talent on the baseball field was unmistakable. A left-handed pitcher, he was named MVP of his high school league, and went on to play at Sierra College. It was there he met the love of his life, Teresa, a member of the track team. The two married just six months later and shared 43 beautiful years together, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Bill’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a fiercely loving and protective father to his children, Holly, Faith, and Jake. Whether taking them “park hopping,” coaching Faith’s softball teams, or just enjoying time all together, Bill poured his heart into being present for his family. More than anything, he wanted them to be happy—and he lived each day making sure they felt deeply loved. He also had the gift of imparting wisdom and advice whenever needed.
After returning to college, Bill became a dedicated teacher at Lincoln High School and spent many years coaching baseball there as well. His impact in the classroom extended far beyond textbooks—he taught life lessons, encouraged dreams, and instilled values that his students carried with them long after graduation. He loved teaching and would have continued well into his later years if circumstances had allowed.
Bill was also a man of deep and abiding faith. He loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind, and lived each day with purpose and grace. We find peace in knowing that he is now surrounded by God’s glory.
Bill was preceded in death by his firstborn son, Nicholas William, who lived for only 48 minutes. We are certain dad and Nick are together now—playing catch and spitting sunflower seeds, a perfect image of Heaven in Bill’s eyes.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Odetta and Clarence, his brothers Louis and Rocky, his father-in-law Jim, and his brother-in-law Junior.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; his children, Holly (and husband Chris), Faith, and Jacob; his twin sister Loretta; sisters Annie and Simone; and mother-in-law Barbara. Also, he leaves behind many close friends and family members.
Bill's life was a blessing to all who knew him. He lived fully, gave generously, and loved deeply. A perfect day for Bill was simple and full of joy—sharing a meal at a Chinese buffet, catching an exciting movie, and finishing it off with a great baseball game. That was Bill: a man of heart, humor, and great love. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, and he will be missed more than words can say.
