Cortland, Alice Louise Moormeier, 88, went home to the Lord on December 18, 2016. (widow of Donald F. Moormeier). She was born in DeWitt, NE on March 7, 1928, confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clatonia, NE in March 1942. Alice graduated from Clatonia High School in 1945 and married Donald F. Moormeier on December 12, 1947.
Alice and Don lived in the Cortland area their entire lives. She worked at Russell Stover Candies in Lincoln in her early married years. Later she was a homemaker until Don passed suddenly in January 1972. In 1974 Alice moved from the acreage where Don and her resided to Cortland where she remained until July 2016. She spent many years at Norris Public School in food service. She also worked at Jack and Jill in Beatrice, Cortland Bar & Grill, and EZ Stop in Cortland.
She is survived by sons, Ronald (Donelle) and Scott (Nancy) and daughter Jodie (Jim) Moore. Grandchildren: Troy (Cheryl Goforth) Moormeier, Tracy (Jeff) Helmink, Tyler (Rachel) Moormeier, Betsy (Garrett) Brandt, Bailie (Ryan) Moore, Alex Moore. She also has 9 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Step grandchild: Justin (Danielle) Schmidt and two step great grandchildren. She is also survived by several brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Proceeded in death by parents Fred and Anna Schachenmeyer, husband Donald F. Moormeier, brother Delmer Schachenmeyer and nephew Robert Schachenmeyer.
Services in celebration of her life will be held at Princeton Countryside Alliance Church on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services following at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Visitation on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services at Princeton Countryside Alliance Church. Memorials to family for designation later.
