We are saddened to share Alice J. Vosika passed away 9/22/25 in Lincoln NE. where she lived for most of her life. She passed quietly surrounded by her two daughters, Jeanie & Christie, and son-in-law Chris.
Alice was born 4/15/34 in Arkansas Kansas as the oldest girl in a household of five girls. Her family moved to Lincoln NE. when she was 15 years old and lived in Lincoln the remainder of her life. She married Ron Vosika in 1954 who was the love of her life. Unfortunately, Ron passed away in 2000.
She worked in a variety of jobs, but her favorite was a PBX operator for GTE and stayed in touch with a number of friends over the years.
Alice enjoyed knitting and crocheting for family and friends. She was an avid Husker fan and would not answer the phone during game time. The highlight of her week was being a greeter at First Plymouth Church. She was known for her warm welcomes with plenty of hugs and fist bumps for the kids.
She was loved by her two daughters Jeanie Cole, husband Chris Galvin, and Christie Vosika. Alice has three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Jessica and Bill Pulte and their children Page and Trey; Katie and Mike Holle and their children Owen and Elliora; Allie Aschtgen and partner Chad Kraus and children Henry and Oliver; her sisters Barbara Hruza and Betsy Hall and her beloved cat Opie.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Ron Vosika, parents Helen and Oliver Pike, sisters Laurice Blundon and Mary Sue Thompson.
Visitation: Sunday 9/28/25 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Lincoln Memorial 6800 South 14th Street Lincoln NE. Funeral: Monday 9/29/25 At 1:30pm at First Plymouth Church 2000 D Street Lincoln NE. Reception to follow at the church. Burial: Monday 9/29/25 at 3:30pm at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Gate # 2.
Alice will be missed by everyone she touched throughout her life as she shared her love, care and enthusiasm. We will all remember her service to others, sense of humor, love of music and resilience. We will miss her voice, her laugh, her open door, her positive nature, and warm hugs. She said life was meant to be lived fully – to “skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other,” warn out but joyful. That spirit – adventure, loving and fierce – is what we remember and give thanks for today.
