Amy was born on November 19, 1948, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Jackson and Rowene (Jensen) Hurst.
Amy’s father was in the US Air Force and their family lived in many locations and she attended thirteen different schools throughout the United States and Germany before settling in Rosemount, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1966.
Amy treasured her visits with her dad’s family in the South, especially with her Uncle Bill and Aunt Lurene and with her mom’s family in the North. She had incredible lifelong friendships with her siblings and loved telling her children stories of their travels and experiences.
She met her best friend and the love of her life, Richard Goodding and they made their home together in Nebraska, with their daughter, Andrea and son, Jeremy. Her childhood dream was always to be a wife and mother and have a happy, loving home and she shined and took pride in her role supporting her family.
Amy’s experiences growing up in the military prepared her with the ability of making anywhere she lived a cozy welcoming home and happy atmosphere. She was incredibly resourceful and had impeccable tastes in fashion, decorating, music, books, art and German chocolate and shared her love of all these things with her children.
As a child she trusted in Jesus as her savior and her faith was the foundation of her life. He comforted her and brought a smile to her face even during incredible challenges. Sharing the love of Jesus with her children and grandchildren was the best thing of her life.
Amy’s greatest joy came when she became a grandmother to Amena, Elliot, Lucas, Lars, Jonas, and Helena and was always excited in their interests, activities and accomplishments and she loved to laugh with them and give them hugs. She was so happy when her first great grandchild, Violet was born.
Amy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard D. Goodding, II, brothers Michael, William Mark and Jackson Hurst, Jr.
Amy is survived by her daughter Andrea and her husband, Benjamin Kessler (Lincoln), son Thomas Jeremy and his wife Iris (Davenport) (Lincoln) and her grandchildren, Amena (Goodding) and Brent Hepokoski (Minneapolis), Elliot and Hailey (Dudenhofer) Goodding (Mesa), Lucas Goodding, Lars, Jonas and Helena Kessler of Lincoln and great granddaughter Violet Goodding (Mesa).
She is also survived by her dear sister, Betty (Hurst) Dodge (Rick) and brother Fred Hurst (Carolyn) and their families; many nieces and nephews, her Goodding brothers and sisters in law and their families and dear friends Mary and Amy.
The family wishes to thank the warm and attentive staff of Eastmont who cared for her the last three years.
