Barbara Jean Fuller, or "Bobbie" as many of us knew her, may not have had children in the traditional sense, but she was a mother through and through. It was often joked that she "collected" not only animals but also children. She lived a full life, and then some, before starting a family of her own, even in her golden years.
Her family and loved ones cherished the stories she shared about being born in Washington and raised alongside her two siblings, making new friendships with unlikely souls, going on the wildest of adventures, falling in love, and creating cherished lifelong memories. Among her many passions, she took great pride in the garden she and her husband Wayne cultivated and grew together.
Bobbie loved the color blue and spent her later years playing cards until they fell apart, repeating the same episodes of M.A.S.H. and Matlock, and feeding wild birds and squirrels all of her "spare" bread. She never told anyone "no," sometimes to her own detriment, even giving until she had nothing left. But this taught us one invaluable lesson about her, a lesson we will forever cherish: her heart was remarkably and unapologetically generous and compassionate. She forgave without judgment, fought tirelessly to protect and nurture children who had no voice, and became their advocate when no one else could be.
Anyone who was lucky enough to have the privilege of knowing Bobbie will carry her memory in their hearts for the rest of their days. While she will be painfully missed, we find solace knowing that she now rests peacefully amoung the blue skies, surrounded with unconditional love.
In Loving Memory of Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Fuller, age 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
