

Betty Lou (Martin) Carter, was born on February 25, 1929 in Bushong, Kansas to Louis Earl and Lula Alice (Adolph) Martin. She was baptized on January 8, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Junction City, Kansas. On August 4, 1948, Betty was married to Carl Leo Browning at the chapel in Fort Riley, Kansas. They had 3 daughters, Judith Elaine, Shirley Ann, and Kathy Jean. In 1972, Betty and Carl opened the Ye Olde Corner Shoppe antique shop which they owned and operated for 15 years. In 1988, Carl Browning passed away. Betty and Carl had been happily married for 40 years. In 1993, Betty married Donald Carter. They were married for 11 year when Don passed away in 2004. Betty was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church since 1999. Betty loved to garden, collect antiques, spend time with friends and family, but mostly, she will be remember for the many letters she wrote. She loved to write letters and spent hours writing letters to friends, family, and the shut in of Good Shepard Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Carl and Don, daughter Judith, sisters Reva (Baumgarner), Lavina (Shaffstall), and Mary (Blankley), and brother Ralph (Martin). Betty is survived by her daughters and son-in-Iaws Shirley and Anthony Manthey and Kathy and Doug Everman both of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren Darcy Shriner (Wayne), Heidi Merritt (David), Toby Manthey (Tara), Joe Manthey, Alanna Everman, and Allison Everman; 6 great- grandchildren Reese, Maggie, Lucian, Carly, Kate, and Violet; sisters Wanda Jean and husband Jerry Gravatt of Indianapolis, IN, LeVeda and husband John Horst of Mason City, and brother John and wife Sue Martin of Yellville, AR.
