Betty J VanLaningham

Betty was born in Beatrice, NE on October 9, 1945 to Joe and Beverly Vater. Betty married the love of her life on August 15, 1961. Although they married young, they were destined to be together for 62 years. To this marriage two sons were born.

They finally settled in and made Clatonia their home in 1972. Betty loved working in her yard, writing poetry, reading books, making floral arrangements, visiting with family and friends; but her greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved telling them stories, talking to them, discussing life with them, and with the littlest one, she loved the cuddles.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Dennis VanLaningham Sr.; 2 sons, Dennis (Sheila) VanLaningham, Paul VanLaningham; grandchildren, Kurtis (special friend Cassie and son Wyatt) VanLaningham, Derek (Carrie) VanLaningham; great-grandsons Crew VanLaningham and Brandyn VanLaningham; siblings, Marilyn (Dave) Hansen, sister-in-law Jane VanLaningham, sister-in-law Joan (Ed) Neubauer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Betty is preceded in death by parents, brother, Jonathan Vater; sister Jeanette Curtis; grandson, Travis VanLaningham; brother-in-law Bob VanLaningham; sister-in-law, Norma McLemore.

A visitation for Betty will be Monday, March 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th St., Lincoln, NE 68512. A celebration of life will be 10:00 am Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home.
