

Carl Christian Wohlfarth, passed away with his loving wife by his side on July 6th, 2020 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Carl and Mary Wohlfarth on July 8th, 1931. He joined the Marines in 1951 and proudly served in the Korean War. Upon returning, he married Shirley JoAnn Jones on April 2nd, 1955. Together they have three children. After starting his family, Carl dedicated 17 years to the Lincoln Fire Department. Following his retirement from the department, together with his wife Shirley, they decided to open a small tack shop in 1972. Carl and his family helped that small tack shop grow into The Fort Western Stores where Carl was active in the business for 46 years. He was a member of Southview Christian Church since childhood. Carl was an avid tennis player, had a love for antique cars, especially his 1932 Packard, and was a lifelong fan of the Huskers. Carl was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley (Jones); daughters Becky Steinhoff (Jim Hultman) of Palmyra, Linda Schomerus (Keith) of Bennet, and son Steve Wohlfarth (Laurie Blankman and sons Michael, Riley, and Andy) of Eagle. Carl had seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; Brian and Shanda Steinhoff and their children, Dakota, Dallas, and Denver, Lisa and Nate Dowding and their children, Hailey, Tinley, and Piper, Brad and Emily Steinhoff and their children Brandon and Kelsey, Keri and Zach Hill and their son Noah, April Steinhoff and her daughter Alexis, Kristin and Scott Nuttleman and their children Baylynn and Brickstin, and Kyle and Shelby Schomerus and their daughter Saylor. Brother Dave Wohlfarth (Kathy) of Amarillo, Texas, brother-in-law Jerry Gableman of Lincoln, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Vickie Jones of Winchester, Kansas, and sister-in-law Caroline (Annie) Jones of Crete and many loving nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Wohlfarth and his father and mother-in-law Harold and Goldie Jones; brother Paul Wohlfarth and sister-in-law Sandy Wohlfarth, sister Miriam Gableman, and brother-in-law Harold (Butch) Jones.
A celebration of Carl’s life is scheduled for 4:00 pm July 15, 2020 at The Lincoln Station 201 N. 7th Street, Lincoln. Due to Carl’s wishes to be cremated there will be no visitation.
