

Carla B. Hines, 95, died on August 20, 2025 at Aviva Woodlands senior living community in Lincoln. Born July 7, 1930 in Ashton, NE; the middle child of seven born to Ignatius Paul Sivinski and Anna Clara (Smedra) Sivinski. She graduated from Arthur High School in Arthur, Iowa, Class of 1947 and went onto complete her Secretarial Degree at Omaha School of Commerce. She later completed courses in general real estate and real estate law classes, and received her broker's license. She was hired by a Lincoln real estate company and excelled in her real estate career for over 60 years. After working at the Bill Kimball Real Estate Company for 30+ years, she joined Woods Bros Realty, and was awarded "Realtor of the Year" honors in 2013. Finally, for the last several years, she loved sharing her experience and knowledge working with the Ascend Realty Group at Woods Bros. She will be missed.
Carla married the love of her life Charles (Charlie) Hines on June 10, 1950 in Omana, NE. To this union they had six children: Debbie (John) Russnogle, Nancy (Kent) Reckewey, Stephanie (Jim) Moran, Ed (Nancy), Jeff (Trudy) and Joel Hines; and has 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie; her daughter, Nancy; her parents; brothers Adrian, Jack, Joe, and Jim Sivinski; and sisters MaryAnn Hiese and Barbara Rupp.
Carla was a life-long devout Catholic with a very strong faith. She and Charlie sent all six kids to St. John's Catholic School, then on to Lincoln East High, the University of Nebraska, and Pharmacy School at UNMC for all three sons. She and Charlie loved to vacation with the family in Colorado many summers; and "The 73rd Street Gang" neighbors - traveling to Port St. Lucie, Florida and Mexico City, Mexico. She even traveled to Paris with a high school friend and had a blast! In her later years, she loved to enjoy "Scotch Club" with friends and would enjoy "Happy Hour" with family at her favorite restaurant. Carla loved to help people; loved to laugh, and cherished her faith, family, friends and colleagues. A life well lived!
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 4 to 6 pm with the family present at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., Lincoln. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 28, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1940 S. 77th St., Lincoln. A reception will immediately follow the service.
