

Clifford Moormeier Clifford Moormeier, 93, of Firth passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, November 14, in Lincoln. Clifford was born and raised on a farm in the Cortland area on January 16, 1922 to Louis and Rhea (Rudder) Moormeier. He enlisted in the Navy (Seabees) on October 10, 1942. He was assigned to the 75th Battalion and served in the South Pacific operating heavy equipment building military installations in WWII. After his discharge he worked as a heavy equipment operator building roads. On March 25, 1951 Clifford married Eleanor Oltman. He farmed all of his life and was a longtime active member of the Hallam United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cortland Legion Post 253 for 65 years and was on the Board of Directors of the Olive Branch Insurance Company of Sprague for 31 years. He enjoyed farming, operating heavy equipment, watching Kansas City Royals baseball, reading Western books and playing cards with family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Moormeier of Firth, son Larry Moormeier of Firth, sister Lila (Moormeier) Papke, brother-in-law Norval Papke, sister Phyllis (Moormeier) Papke, brother-in-law Dale Papke, sister-in-law Alice (Schachenmeyer) Moormeier, sister-in-law Elmira (Oltman) TeSelle , sister-in-law Willa (Oltman) Drent , brother-in-law Milford Oltman along with cousins, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Moormeier, brother Donald Moormeier, sister Lucille (Moormeier) Bomer, brother-in-laws William Bomer, Norman TeSelle, Merle Drent, sister-in- law Marilyn (Kropp) Oltman and his parents Louis and Rhea Moormeier. Services will be 12:30 PM at the Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St., Lincoln on Thursday, November 19. Lunch will be served after the service. Memorials to the Nebraska Heart Foundation or the Hallam United Methodist Church.
