

Dagmar Marie (Steffensen) Ahlquist, age 92, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025, in Omaha, NE. Dagmar was born February 16, 1933, to Holger and Emma (Nelson) Steffensen in Geneva, IL and lived in Chicago until she went to Dana College in Blair, NE. At Dana, she was on the tennis team, and it was there that she met Olaf “Olie”, her loving husband of 60 years. Starting in high school, Dagmar served as a church organist/pianist throughout her life, including many years at American Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She worked at Lincoln East High School as the school registrar. In her retirement years she sang in the church choir, volunteered as a quilter, knitted, and played countless games of BINGO. As a mother, she was her children’s number one fan at sports and music events and a supportive grandmother.
Dagmar is survived by her children, Todd (Laura) Ahlquist, Worthington, MN, Mark (Julie) Ahlquist, Omaha, NE, Randy (Tammy) Ahlquist, Windsor, CO, Debra (Steven Mundt) Ahlquist, St, Paul, MN; sister Marilyn (Paul) Jersild, Chesapeake, VA; 12 grandchildren, Ben, Rachel, Megan, Aaron, Erik, Adam, Ellie, Kyle, Taryn, Elsa, Greta, Ingrid; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dagmar is preceded in death by her husband, Olaf Ahlquist; and brother, Robert Steffensen.
A memorial celebration of life will be held on April 12, 2025, at 10:00am at the chapel at The Lighthouse, 17600 Arbor Street, Omaha, NE 68130. Memorials preferred to Lost Timber Bible Camp https://www.losttimber.org/donate
