

Danny "Dan" Reel, age 80, passed away on February 7, 2026, in Friend, Nebraska while living with his partner Tina Kinell. Born on January 6, 1946, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dan lived a life marked by dedication—to his country, his work, and most importantly, his family.
A proud Marine veteran, Dan served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. His service was a defining chapter in his life and one he carried with pride throughout the years. After returning home, he embarked on a long and steady career with the phone company, where he worked for over 30 years. His commitment to his profession reflected the same steadfastness that defined so many aspects of his life.
Dan was also known for his deep passion for cars. An avid car enthusiast, he spent countless hours immersed in the world of engines and chrome—a hobby that brought him joy and connected him with others who shared his love for classic automobiles.
Family was at the heart of Dan’s world. He shared 46 devoted years with his beloved wife and best friend, Janice Reel, who preceded him in death. Together they built a family that continues to carry forward their legacy of strength and unity.
Dan is survived by his children Misty Butcher; Kimberly Hilderbrand and Dennis Reel. He leaves behind a cherished group of grandchildren: Mercedes Butcher; Tristan Butcher; Desmond L. Reel; Derek S. Reel; Donovan W. George; Dalton K. Reel aka Pee Wee; Darren F. H. Colgan; Dakota J. Colgan; and Kiley D. Hilderbrand.
He was also preceded in death by his mother, Mary Kennedy.

Visitation will be held at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, located at 6800 South 14th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68512, on February 11, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same venue on February 12, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.
