

Dolores “Dee” Maxine Tejcka, age 101, died peacefully on June 19, 2025, in Union City, CA, surrounded by friends and family. Dolores is survived by daughters Karen Tejcka and son-in-law George Caracciolo of Carlsbad, CA, and Kathy Tejcka, American Canyon, nieces, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends. She will be remembered as everyone’s confidant and a deeply loving wife, mother, friend, and Auntie.
Dee was born to George and Mabel Christianson on March 18, 1924, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She moved to Iowa for several years after the death of her mother and lived with family in Iowa and Lincoln. Dolores returned to Lincoln after her father remarried and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. That fall she began college at the University of Nebraska.
During the war effort, she paused attending college to join the Civil Service, and worked in Ohio and Michigan, forging lifelong friendships. She returned to Lincoln to help her family in 1948. In August of 1949, she went on a blind date and met Richard (Dick) Tejcka. They married in 1951, purchased their new home on South 61st Street, and added two daughters, Karen and Kathy. She volunteered for numerous organizations, including First Lutheran Church and as a lifelong member of Eastern Star. Known for her kindness to all and generosity of her time, she was happiest when surrounded by family.
She began her career with the University of Nebraska in 1965 and retired as the Administrative Assistant for the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs. After retirement, she and Dick volunteered, traveled, and spent time with friends and family. Dick died in 2013, and she remained at The Legacy Terrace until 2016, when she moved to California to be near her girls. She lived in Union City at both Acacia Creek and The Masonic Home until her death.
Visitation will be held on July 10th from 5-7 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on July 11th at 11 am at First Lutheran Church, 1551 So. 70th St., Lincoln, Nebraska. You are invited to stay for lunch. Burial at 3:15 pm at Lincoln Memorial Park. Meet at Gate 2, drive in and park in line before proceeding to graveside.
