Doris Ann Hardt

Doris Ann Hardt, age 93, of Lincoln, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Doris was born in Stuart, Nebraska on October 30, 1930 to August and Caroline Ottele Kramer. She was one of 13 children. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1948 and moved to Lincoln and met Richard Hardt. The two married in 1952 and from this union came two children, Sandy and Steve. Doris was an employee of Lincoln Telephone Company for 40 years, working various positions. After a short period of retirement, she returned to work and was an employee of JC Penney for 23 years until June of 2018 when she retired at the age of 87.

She loved gardening and had many potted flowers on her walkway. Her cat Smokey was a great company for her to have around.

Doris is survived by her loving children, Sandy (Harvey) Rickerts, Steve (Carol) Hardt; brother, Vern (Darlene) Kramer of Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Raedean Kramer of Lexington, Kentucky; granddaughter, Jamie (Tim) Swartz; great-granddaughter, Tessa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Doris is preceded by her husband of 52 years Richard Hardt.

In July of 2023, Doris was diagnosed with a terminal illness - interstitial lung disease/pulmonary fibrosis. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Christmas Eve in hospice care at The Tabitha Journey House.
