Geri Perry was born April 12, 1930 in Lincoln, NE. She passed away Friday, August 30, 2019. Her parents were Edwin and Myrtle (Onnink) Gruntorad of Emerald, NE. She married Donald Perry on August 7, 1949 at Malcolm, NE. Geri graduated from Malcolm High School and attended Lincoln School of Commerce. She was a farm wife and drove a school bus for 35 years at Malcolm Public Schools. She volunteered at the Lincoln Community Playhouse, Bryan Health, Lancaster County Election Board, Malcolm Public Schools and for the 4-H organization. She loved attending the Nebraska Husker football games and women’s basketball games. A yearly vacation was attending the football bowl games in December during their milking years. She enjoyed league bowling with family and friends. Geri enjoyed gardening, canning and raising broiler chickens each year so that she could feed the hired farm help. She had a passion for reading “cookbooks” along with “Taste of Home” and “Country Woman”.
She is survived by daughters, Donna (Doug) Peterson; Linda Perry (Randy Hablitzel); Barbara (Mick) Erickson; and Brenda (David) Wacker; grandchildren, Bradley Peterson; Katie (Stannon) Cords; Chad Erickson; Kari (Nick) Goering; Kyle Smith; great-grandchildren Peyton Erickson; Haley Cords; Zac Cords; Lennon Goering; Nixon Goering; step-grandchildren Monique McCall; Duane (Tara) Peterson; Shelli (Tony) Cervantes; Karen Stott; 11 step great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-great grandchildren; Sister: Shirley Dillman. Brother: Dale (Sandy) Gruntorad. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald Perry and a son in law, Gregg Smith.
Celebration of Life : Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 10 AM at Malcolm Methodist Church. Visitation 4 to 8 PM with the family present 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE. Memorials may be given to Malcolm Methodist Church and Malcolm Public Schools.
