Irene J. Essink, 87, passed away November 11th, 2015, at Southlake Village. Irene was a professional baker and cake decorator, her specialty was wedding cakes. She made many wedding cakes for family and friends. She also had a hidden talent as an artist. Survived by daughters, Judy Phelps, Nancy (Al) Parkening, Beth Anderson, Sons: Robert (Diane) Essink and Michael (Sandy) Essink. 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Charlene (Roland) Beach and Kate (Tony) Liesveld. Many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her husband Lester, son, Russell, parents, brothers, Lloyd and Clifford; and son-in-law Jerry Phelps. Visitation: 1 - 4 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln Memorial, 6800 S. 14th. Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hope Community Church, 4700 S. Folsom.
