James F. Higgins, 65, of Lincoln fell asleep in the Lord June 13th, surrounded by his family and friends after a short and valiant battle with cancer. Born 5-17-51 to John F. and Mary (Clohecy) Higgins in Oak Park, Illinois. Jim lived most of his life in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School. Jim served aboard the USS Hissem during the Vietnam conflict. He worked for many years as a painter, bricklayer, and night manager at Madsen’s Bowling and Billiards. A lover of all things Irish, Jim traveled in Ireland twice and was named the Clan Poet for the O’Higgins Clan based in Dublin (http://www.ohigginsclan.com/clanpoet.htm). Jim was thoughtful, quiet, and generous. His memory will live forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, John F. He is survived by his stepmother, Mary Ann Higgins, brother, Daniel (Stephanie) Higgins, nephew, Joshua (Megan) Higgins, stepsister, Myra (Jerry) Bartek, and step-nieces and nephews Justin Mullen, Matthew (Brooke) Mullen, Brooke (Joe) Reinhard, Zachary (Sarie) Whitson, Shannon Whitson, and Max (Jennifer) Whitson.
