

Jane Elizabeth Vice, age 76, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at Country House Memory Care Residence in Lincoln, Nebraska. Daughter of Douglas Reuber and Mary (Ziegler) O’Neill, Jane was born on December 3, 1948, in Kitchener, Ontario.
Jane’s caring and compassionate nature led her to pursue a nursing career. She graduated from Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto in 1970. Throughout her 40-year career, Jane practiced in the hospital, clinical, and nursing home settings in both Canada and the United States.
On June 16, 1972, Jane was united in marriage to Ken Vice. Together they had three daughters, raising them in Oshawa, Ontario, before moving to Lincoln in 1992. Jane was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, composting, and finding ways to reduce her footprint on the environment. Jane and Ken volunteered for decades with Tabitha Meals on Wheels. Jane loved visiting and chatting with friends near and far. Her laugh was infectious. Jane was truly a magic maker for the holidays. She established many traditions that continue to live on. Family favorites include her Easter basket scavenger hunts, and Christmas stockings FULL of wrapped gifts.
Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ken; son-in-law Kyle (Talena) Hagel, and grandchildren, Laura and Megan Hagel, Michael and Lilly Graff of Kenmore, WA; daughter Katie Vice (Steven Joyce) and grandchildren, Leah, Howie, and Norah Trierweiler of Lincoln, NE; daughter Erin (Jake) Anders and grandchildren, Mikko and Finn Anders of Palmer, AK. She is also survived by her loyal nursing friends, Sharon Wellensiek, George Geier, and Sue Griepenstroh – The Queens, who continued to meet for their regular dinner dates, adapting them to include Jane during the years of her declining health. She is additionally survived by her sister Judy (Alexander) Temporale, Milton, Ontario; brother-in-law Peter (Lynne) Vice, Haliburton, Ontario; along with many other cherished friends and family members. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, and her daughter, Julie.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68512. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabitha Meals on Wheels (Tabitha.org/meals).
