

Janice “Jan” Van Gerpen, 95, passed away December 12, 2020 peacefully in her residence at the Legacy in Lincoln, Nebraska. Jan was born Janice Ruth Robinson on February 10, 1925 to Harry L. and Norma P. (Gunn) Robinson in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Jan retired from State Farm Insurance Company after 26 years as an underwriter in the Life Company. After retiring, she volunteered 4,000 hours at Lincoln General Hospital and became a life member of the Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member for many years at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church where she volunteered and lead bible study groups.
Jan was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Vern J. Van Gerpen who died in 1991; parents; son, Johnny; sister, Ardene Fairchild; brother, Harry Leslie (Bob) Robinson; and son-in-law, Donald Cool. Jan is survived by her two children: Richard (Ruth) Van Gerpen and Deborah Cool, six grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Those that brought her love and joy were God, family, friends, and church. Jan was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles.
The funeral will be a private ceremony but will be livestreamed for the public on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 2:00pm. Please follow the link at the bottom of the page to access the livestream when the service begins.
