Jerry Gene Daugherty

Jerry Gene Daugherty, of Lincoln, passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 88 years. Jerry was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on November 2, 1937, to Donald and Helen (Ruegge) Daugherty. He grew up in Meadow Grove, Nebraska and graduated from Meadow Grove High School in 1955.

Jerry served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1960. After returning to Nebraska, he moved to Lincoln where he began his career working in highway construction. Jerry helped build many miles of highways in Nebraska and city streets in Lincoln while working for Constructors, Inc.

It was in Lincoln that he met his wife, Shirley in 1960 and they were married in 1962.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Brett (Lou Anne); and grandchildren, Jared and Tessa; his sister, Donna Sanne; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Russell Hand.

After retiring, Jerry took up the game of golf and spent many happy hours on golf courses in Lincoln and the other places he and Shirley traveled to. Jerry and Shirley were able to do a lot of traveling to many states and countries over the years.
