

JoAnn Mortensen, 86, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2016 at the Tabitha Cove House in Lincoln, Nebraska. JoAnn was born to Louis and Ethel (Uland) Borgman on December 22, 1929. She was a dedicated mother and farmwife. JoAnn was married to the late Robert Mortensen on April 15, 1951. JoAnn is survived by 5 children: Kathy (Wayne) Richter, Randy (Deb) Mortensen, Karen (Dave) Williams, Kay (Leonard) Fleig, and Rob (Heidi) Mortensen. She has 13 grandchildren: Becky Perrett, Dan Richter, Stacy Meints, Michelle Larkins, Julie Oshel, Abby Pollock, Nicole Williams, Mandy Weihe, Shelby Fleig, Will Fleig, Grace, Luke, and Adam Mortensen. JoAnn was blessed with great-grandchildren: Aiden Meints, Easton and Camden Larkins, Eve and Eli Oshel, DJ and Dax Pollock, Cash and Delaney Weihe. Additional survivors include brother-in-law Burt Young of Lincoln, Nebraska, other family members, and friends. JoAnn's gentle, thoughtful spirit will be truly missed by all who knew her. JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Robert, grandson Ty Williams, parents Louis and Ethel Borgman, sister Lois Young, other family members, and good friends. JoAnn enjoyed her family first and foremost. She also enjoyed embroidery and was known for her apple pies, macaroni and cheese, and cowboy cookies. JoAnn was a true Husker fan and enjoyed watching Big Red games on TV. She also enjoyed Kansas City Royals baseball. JoAnn was a member of First Plymouth Congregational Church, Alpha Xi Delta Women's Fraternity, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
