John Darrell Filbert, 68, died September 28, 2023. John was born July 14, 1955 to Adam and Freda Filbert. John was raised on a small family farm outside of Lincoln, NE. He graduated from Lincoln High School. He enjoyed time spent fishing and tinkering on old classic vehicles, especially his Chevy Nova. He worked as a mechanic, construction worker, bricklayer, and enjoyed collecting antiques. He found comfort in his faith in God and was happiest holding his young children.
John had five children, Jami (Todd) Koester, Amy (Joe) Temple, John (Jennifer) Filbert, Abby Filbert and Luke Filbert. He had seven grandchildren Madi and Max Koester, Chloe Bugay, Sylvia and Charlie Temple, LJ and Jackson Filbert. He was preceded in death by his parents Adam and Freda Filbert. He is survived by his wife, Amy, two brothers Eugene Filbert (Ginger), James Filbert, step brothers Joseph Staff (Connie) and Richard Starr, step sister Beverly Fall (David), five children, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Doug Delhay officiating.
