

Born in Crofton, Nebraska, Larry graduated from Crofton Public Schools and went ton to attend Wayne State College. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dixie, after completing his college education. The couple remained in Wayne while Larry earned his masters degree.
Larry was hired by Valentine Public Schools, but his plans were interrupted when he was drafted into the U.S Army. He and Dixie relocated to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, where he served for two years.
His teaching career began in Ericson, Nebraska, where he taught four subjects and coached the boy's basketball team. Larry's passion for education led the family to several communities across Nebraska, each filled with meaningful memories. His roles included:
- Principal at Wisner High School and Oakland High School.
- Biology teacher at Arbor Heights Junior High in Omaha.
- Assistant Principal at Bellevue Senior High
- Principal in the University of Nebraska Extension Division in Lincoln.
- Assistant Principal at Charles Culler Junior High.
- Assistant Principal at Lincoln Southeast High School, where he spent the final twenty years.
"Uncle Larry" was known by students and colleagues alike as firm, fair, and deeply caring. His dedication to education left a lasting impact on countless lives.
Outside of the classroom, Larry was an avid sports enthusiast. Whether on the gold course or cheering for the Kansas City Royals, professional tennis, or his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers, sports were a lifelong joy.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Evelyn; his grandson, Trevor, and his beloved wife, Dixie.
He is survived by his children; Cyndy E. (Rod) Koerber, Scott L. (Sue) Eaton, Grandchildren; Alex and Clark LaCouture, Bill and Megan Flynn, Scot and Allie Eaton, Dustin Eaton, Kristen Koerber, great-grandchildren; Emma, Parks, June, Liam, Buck, Trip, Lana, and Prescott.
Larry also shared a special friendship with Shirley Bradsby, who was dear to both him and his family.
He was blessed with a wide circle of friends in the communities where he lived and worshipped. Larry's legacy of kindness, leadership, and love will be remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service for Larry will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 8300 E. Pointe Rd., Lincoln, NE 68506. In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church.
